The surah's big idea

Time is a treasure; the winners believe and do good

What did I learn from the surah?

  1. 1. By time
Allah swears by time, the time we live in. Allah swears by whatever He wills; we swear only by Allah.
  2. 2. In loss
Allah swears that people are truly at a loss, like a trader who loses his capital, except those who do the four things the next verse names.
  3. 3. The winners
Except those who believe in Allah, do good deeds, and remind each other to hold on to the truth and to be patient. These four together are the way out of loss.
