The surah's big idea
Our Generous Lord shaped us well, and noble angels write our deeds
What did I learn from the surah?
1. When the sky breaks apartOn the Last Day the sky will split, the stars will scatter, the seas will burst into one another, and the graves will be turned over and their people brought out. Then every soul will know what it sent ahead and what it left behind.
2. Your Generous LordO man, what has deceived you about your Lord, the Generous? He created you, shaped you, balanced you, and put you together in whatever form He willed.
3. Noble recordersNo! But you deny the Day of Recompense. Over you are noble angels who keep and write down your deeds; they know whatever you do, good or bad.
4. The righteous and the wickedThe righteous, who gave Allah and people their rights, will be in bliss. And the wicked, who neglected them, will be in Hellfire, entering it on the Day of Recompense, never to be absent from it.
5. That Day the command is Allah'sAnd what will make you know what the Day of Recompense is? Again, what will make you know? It is the Day when no soul can do anything for another, and the command that Day belongs to Allah alone.
