The surah's big idea

Allah never leaves His servants; we thank Him and care for the orphan

What did I learn from the surah?

  1. 1. Your Lord has not left you
Allah swears by the bright morning and by the night when it grows still and dark: your Lord has not left you, O Prophet, peace be upon him, and He is not displeased with you, though the revelation paused for a while.
  2. 2. The Hereafter is better
And the Hereafter is better for you than this world, and your Lord will give you of His blessings in the Hereafter until you are pleased.
  3. 3. Three blessings
Did Allah not find you an orphan and give you a home and care? Did He not find you not knowing the Book or faith, and teach and guide you? Did He not find you poor, and provide for you and make you content?
  4. 4. The orphan and the one who asks
So do not treat the orphan badly, and do not turn away the one who asks you for help but give and help him, and speak of your Lord's blessings on you and thank Him.
