Our method
What a lesson is
Every lesson is a verified verse or verses from Tanzil's Hafs text, recited by Al-Minshawi or Al-Dossary or the teaching recitation where children repeat, with a picture that expresses the general meaning, a meaning drafted from Al-Tafsir Al-Muyassar and rewritten for a child, and one question to think about.
Two ways through every surah
The picture lessons: one lesson after another, each with a picture, a meaning and a question. And the mind map: a branch per meaning, an icon per verse, recited and repeated branch by branch until the surah is memorised.
One picture policy
One rule governs everything we publish: the site, print and videos. Three colours say what we draw and what we never draw.
Green: we draw
Nature, the cosmos as seen from earth, weather, places, objects, maps and diagrams.
Amber: allowed, stylised
Animals named in the Quran, with simple faces. And symbols: a scale, a lamp, a road, a river, a seed, expressing the verse's meaning, not its event.
Red: never
Allah in any form or symbol; prophets, their families, the companions, angels and jinn, in any form including silhouettes, backs, hands or glowing shapes; events of the unseen (the Day of Judgement, Paradise, Hell); Quran text inside an image; magic or sorcery themes; people and crowds. When a verse is about Allah or the unseen, we draw what expresses its general meaning in nature and objects, as a symbol, never as a depiction.
Pictures are teaching aids
Illustrations are teaching aids in a paper-cut style, chosen one by one by a person, never reconstructions of what happened. The meaning is drafted from Al-Tafsir Al-Muyassar, reviewed and signed before publishing.
Corrections
Every lesson has a "report a mistake" link. A reported lesson can be withdrawn immediately, and its version number changes.
