The lessons
1 · Verses 1–4The sun and the moon
Allah swears by the sun and its morning brightness, by the moon when it comes after it, by the day when it shows the earth in light, and by the night when it covers it with darkness.
2 · Verses 5–7The sky, the earth and the soul
And He swears by the sky and how perfectly it is built, by the earth He spread out for us, and by the soul that Allah created and made complete.
3 · Verses 8–10Two paths
Allah showed the soul the way of bad and the way of good. Whoever keeps their soul clean and growing with obedience and good has won, and whoever buries it in wrongdoing has lost.
4 · Verses 11–13Allah's she-camel
The tribe of Thamud denied their prophet Salih, peace be upon him, because they went too far in disobedience, when the most wicked of them set out to harm the she-camel. Allah's messenger Salih told them: do not harm Allah's she-camel, and leave her the day on which she drinks.
5 · Verses 14–15The end of wrongdoing
They denied their prophet and killed the she-camel, so Allah sent punishment on them for their sin, and it reached all of them; none escaped. And Allah does not fear any consequence of what He did to them.
